Urban Villages in the Village
Fairhaven is a little district in the city of Bellingham. 40 plus years ago Ken Imus bought and restored the first of many historic boarded up buildings in South Bellingham. After renovations, restaurants and offices opened their doors and the new Fairhaven was born. With all of the popular shops, trails, walks along the water and great restaurants, people decided to live within walking distance to this section of town. Higher and higher go the buildings, all with the turn of the century look of the older buildings. Condominiums upstairs with shopping on the main level, underground parking are going up all over. It kind of looks like a little New York in some ways and I think as the buildings keep going up, it will look a bit like a turn of the century city.
