Bellingham company goes from home to store

March 28th, 2008
Bellingham Baby Company, owned by Shelly and Jeremy Allen, have opened a store in the Barkley Village. The couple operated an online store called Kangaroodle.com and sold to people all over the U.S.  Several local customers found out the store was based in Bellingham and they started coming to the Allen's home to see what all they had in their inventory!  They knew it was time for a brick-and-mortar store.

The store focuses on gifts for babies and their moms, but it’s not the kind of place where you’ll find the traditional stuff. Allen said she wanted products geared toward the “hip, modern mom,” which

Lynden City Park get a new Trail

March 28th, 2008
Thanks to an Eagle Scout's project, Lynden's City Park has a new winding trail that connects the Jim Kaemingk Sr. trail to the YMCA.  He had to learn to operate a tractor, donated by Scholten's Equipment, to scrape the ground flat.  Volunteers helped pound in reinforcement bar to set the trail width and then, again using the tractor, filled it with wood chips to ensure there were no tripping hazards.  To read more about this amazing youth, click on this link or go to the Lynden Tribune website at www.lyndentribune.com.  This is one young man's effort to contribute to his Northwest Community. Great job!

March 5th, 2008
Whatcom County (Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden, Sumas, Everson, Deming, Custer, Blaine/Birch Bay) has many local companies that were founded here and have stayed here.  A very very "short list":

Brenthaven  Urban gear such as backpacks, computer cases, binder/planner covers, fanny packs, and luggage just to name a few.  Their products are extremely sturdy and seem to last forever!  They began their manufacturing in the Fairhaven District (Bellingham) and have remained there even though shipping labor overseas would be less expensive. Brenthaven contracts with many national companies
