Birch Bay is on the west coast almost to the Canadian border. Located just north of Bellingham, Washington and 1.5 hours north of Seattle Washington. This is a quiet area comprised mainly of vacation homes with more permanent residences increasing every year. With the new addition of a shopping district just 10 minutes away, and new restaurants coming in, the area is bound to continue in popularity.

As in all of the country, homes aren't selling quickly. Birch Bay is down about 20% in the amount of homes sold. That said, home values are just up slightly. New homes are the best buy in our area based entirely on the builder's motivation to

Welcome to Lynden Washington! Home of the dairy cow, windmills and great schools. Lynden is 40 minutes North of Bellingham Washington in the heart of Whatcom County. Pastoral settings and views of beautiful Mount Baker makes this an ideallic place to get your roots into an old fashioned small town community.

Lynden homes are significantly lower in value to Bellingham's with affordable-nice homes starting at $270,000. $500,000 buys a home with acreage for horses, cows and chickens!

Average single family home is $325,000 down $50,000 from 2007.

Raspberry and blueberry farms are also abundant in the Lynden area.

Ferndale and this entire region is a popular lifestyle destination, so even with the sales slowdown, most property is a good medium/long term investment. Schools in Ferndale, Washington get high marks in quality education so many families call Ferndale home.Bellingham, WA is just a short 10 minutes commute, making this city an affordable option for young families.

Fairhaven is the most southern district in Bellingham, Washington...and probably the most expensive. Condos range from $300,000 up to over 2 million dollars based on size and of course a view of Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands. Single family homes start at around $400,000. Trails are abundant both along the waterway and also in the Pacific Rain Forest. Beautiful tree tunneled trail systems take you out to the water or to the many hills and connect with Larrabee State Park. Best Places to Live rates Bellingham in the top ten in various categories.

As in all of the country, homes aren't selling quickly. Bellingham is down about 26% in the amount of homes sold. That said, home values are up slightly. Five-year change: up 79.2 percent. Year-over-year change: The current average price for a used home in Bellingham is $389,738 up $36,000 from 2007 and the average price for a new home in Bellingham is $327,313 down $32,500 from 2007. New homes are the best buy in our area based entirely on the builder's motivation to sell quickly so they don't loose money by holding them after completion for too long.
